INNATE IMMUNITY

Application

Immunostimulants in animal health

Animals are constantly exposed to a wide range of pathogens, but are normally protected by their immune system from clinical manifestation of disease.

As some pathogens have mechanisms to bypass aspects of the immune response, using treatments that boost the immune response (termed immunostimulants) to a desired level can reduce the risk of infection. A number of immunostimulants have been investigated, with different origins, mechanisms of action and intended applications.
